OMN was a website and software tool that allowed you to download, watch, and listen to educational and public service programming. It is similar to Itunes in functionality, but the programs are directed towards an educational audience.
The service itself was an extensive one, consisting of a website; a configurable, downloadable application that would allow a user to access, purchase and view programs from a large online catalog of public broadcasting and user submitted content; and numerous smaller sites that publicized the software and, in some cases, allowed for the viewing of programs through the browser window.
Jeremy was hired as a webmaster for the website, and was partially responsible for a redesign of the website and it's redevelopment. He was heavily involved throughout the run of the service, including
- Design of the OMN online purchasing process
- Design of the user registration process flow and associated screens
- Working with outsourcing companies in Pakistan and Russia to assist in the implementation of various OMN designs
- Design of the OMN tool user interface, including
- Layout
- Button design and placement for multiple platforms
- Color schema
- Integration with the current live site
- Design of the tool's installation procedure, including process flow, and error messages and windows
- Design, development and maintenance of the OMN website
- Development and maintenance of user forums
- Design and development of numerous side websites that allowed display and playback of OMN content
- Integration of the OMN website and the tool's UI to numerous partners, including Verisign, KQED and WGBH
- Responsible for usage reports on a regular basis
